Commerce
The year 1993 was a turning point in the history of Aurora’s Degree College, as this was the year when the undergraduate course in commerce was started. Since then, the commerce stream has never looked back. The B.Com course has made rapid strides in this span of ten years. The course, which initially had forty students, mushroomed to 1200 in a decade. The commerce department that had two faculty members has blossomed into a department of 23. The proliferation of the teacher and the taught throws enough light on the growth of Commerce course and speaks volumes regarding the growth of the course that consists of B.Com (General), B.Com (Computers) and B.Com (Hons). Since it’s inception, the B.Com course has become synonymous with success, touching a new summit every time and adding a feather every year to its cap of achievements. The faculty offers both conventional and progressive courses, including specialized course in Commerce with Computers apart from the most prestigious course, Honours in Commerce. Undergraduates are taught in a stimulating environment. Teaching is through a mixture of Lectures, Seminars, Tutorials and Workshops with increasing use of IT resources. All the undergraduate students in the faculty are on three-year degree programmes. The Department of Commerce offers three combinations: B.Com (Regular), B.Com (Comp.) and B.Com (Hons). Aurora’s School of Professional Learning is an offshoot of commerce department. The college also offers post graduate courses in commerce.
